Carbon Leaf
Carbon Leaf
Carbon Leaf is celebrating its Silver Anniversary in 2018 behind a new album and extensive touring. Through 25 years together, the group’s independent music and spirit continue to resonate with its fans, and an authentic bond between the band members and their audience is evident.

Blending rock, folk, Celtic, bluegrass and Americana into a high-energy style the group calls ether-electrified porch music, the Virginia quintet’s poetic songs are brought to life with acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin, fiddle, bass, drums, cello, banjo, penny whistle, pedal steel, accordion and rich vocal harmony.

Writing and producing from their home studio in Richmond, VA, Carbon Leaf has released 17 albums and performed 2,400+ live shows throughout their enduring career.

SARAH WHITE
One woman, one guitar, no bullshit.

Born and raised in the two Virginias, Sarah White may resemble some kind of Hazel Dickens/Patti Smith/Cat Power love child. Her catalog offers an eclectic blend of driving folk-rock, sorrowful country ballads and experimental, personal narrative songs, a unique sound delivered in a distinctive and wonderfully sad voice.

High Flyer, a new full-length album, is due out in April 2018. Recorded in Richmond at Montrose Studio, the album features 11 of White’s best songs tracked with a bevy of seasoned players including Daniel Clarke (k.d. Lang, Ryan Adams) on piano and keys, Charles Arthur (Slaid Cleaves) on guitars, and Stewart Myers (Agents of Good Roots), who also produced the album, on bass. Special guests include Dave Matthews (who sings with White on ‘Sweetheart’); Carter Gravatt (guitars) of Carbon Leaf; Nashville up-and-comer Carl Anderson and Austin and Michael York of Sleepwalkers.]

Sarah wields a well-worn Jumbo Gibson acoustic and performs solo and with a band. She released early albums on Jagjaguwar and won Best Song at the 2007 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest. She has opened for Merle Haggard, Earl Scruggs, Will Oldham, Dave Matthews Band Caravan and was once named Best Songwriter in her hometown of Charlottesville. Recently White took home the winning prize at the Ashland Coffee & Tea Songwriter Shootout.
